Senior Vice President, Hog Production and Procurement

Jonathan Sawatzky is Senior Vice President, Hog Production and Procurement at Canada Packers, where he leads the teams responsible for raising and procuring pigs.

Previously, Jonathan served as Vice President of Maple Leaf Agri-Farms and Hog Procurement at Maple Leaf Foods. Agri-Farms was one of the largest pig producers in Canada and a leading producer of pigs raised without antibiotics and sows raised in open housing, operating numerous sites and feed mills.

With more than 22 years of experience at Maple Leaf Foods in finance and operational roles, Jonathan played key roles in transformational projects, including expanding the company’s Pork Complex and consolidating volume into a new processed meats facility. Jonathan’s extensive experience in leading teams and driving results was instrumental in these initiatives.

Before joining Maple Leaf Foods, Jonathan held professional roles at the Canadian Wheat Board and at Agricore United, which, at the time, was the largest grain handling, crop input, and feed manufacturing company in Western Canada.

Jonathan has a CPA CMA designation and serves on the Board of Directors at the Manitoba Pork Council and the Canadian Pork Council.
