Lance Mistelbacher
Senior Vice President, Commodities and Risk Management


Lance Mistelbacher is Senior Vice President, Commodities and Risk Management at Canada Packers and has more than 30 years of experience in the Food and Agri-business industry.
Previously, Lance was Vice President Commodity Risk Management at Maple Leaf Foods. Before joining Maple Leaf Foods in 2000, Lance held senior roles in grain procurement, global grain exporting, and commodity risk management with the Landmark Group, Benson Quinn-ADM, and United Grain Growers. Throughout his career, he has served as an expert witness in numerous US/Canadian agricultural trade disputes.
Lance attended the University of Manitoba (BSc of Ag Econ 1984, MSc of Ag Econ 1986) and while enrolled was awarded an athletic scholarship as a member of University of Manitoba Bison Men’s Volleyball team. In 1984, he graduated with distinction and was awarded the Gold Medal for academic excellence. His post graduate work was in International Trade Policy.
Lance was raised on a mixed farm in Prairie Grove, Manitoba and has had longtime involvement in the commercial livestock business. He is married and has two children, both of whom are pursuing successful careers in Agri-business.
